Stephanie from Teaching in Room 6 is hosting a My-Go-To Book Linky Party! So many teachers have shared their favorite resource books. I wanted to share THE most important book I own: The Reading Teacher's Book of Lists by Fry and Kress. If you teach reading/language arts in grades K-COLLEGE, you MUST own this book. I reference this book when planning workshop activities, teacher-made assessments, when I'm looking for books/words/definitions.....you name it, it is in there. I even gave this book to a teacher friend as a gift because she kept borrowing my copy. It isn't a book full of printables; however, it has every list of words or resources that you can think of (parts of speech, figurative language, Caldecott/Newberry Award winners, leveled sight words, antonyms, synonyms, vowel sounds, literacy terms, comprehension strategies, compound words, tongue twisters, dictionary words/skills......)It is THE reference book to keep on your desk.
